EcoZoom Stove: “It works far better than I imagined”

Purasol’s Zoom Dura rocket stove has been given a hearty endorsement by Perez Zeledón resident Steven Corwin, who was so pleased with its performance he immediately returned to Purasol. “I’ve bought a second one and put it in storage I am so pleased with it” he said.

“I have built a rocket stove by myself before, and this one is at least two times more efficient. The wind shield makes a huge difference; it’s very well designed.”

The stove’s efficiency is good both for the environment (the vertical chamber ensures most gases are combusted before release) and for cooking. Steven says: “It’s very efficient and very hot, I cooked with it very well and I use it to heat water, it boils a pot very quickly.”

The rocket stove has won two Ashden Awards for sustainable energy, and the quality and toughness of its design make it perfect for use in cabins and ranches. Steven uses his to cook large pots of farm food such as pejibaye, and says: “It works far better than I imagined, it heats so well. I would recommend it to everyone.”
