You get what you pay for

As the electricity from the grid did not reach their place, Antonio Arroyo y Michele González decided to install a solar water heater and 9 solar panels to power their house in Uvita. This was early 2011 and involved the installation of solar panels and a battery bank because you need a place to store the electricity you generate, when you aren ́t connected to the grid.

“We were the first customers of Purasol in this area,” recalls Michele González Arroyo, “it must be almost 4 years ago that Pierre himself came here to install the equipment. Except from some initial small problems that Pierre fixed quickly, there have ́nt been more problems, not with the solar panels nor the water heater; everything is working very satisfactorily. “

As there has never been electricity in this house you can not compare “what is being saved” every month because there has never been an electricity bill. They ́re receiving electricity for free from the very start, given by the sun and for many years , as the foreseen lifespan of panels is about 20 years.

“We have also installed solar panels on our own, in another house, cheaper ones and without the help of Pierre,” adds Ms. González, “you think to save money by doing it all by yourself, but wow, you should have seen the problems we’ve had. There is a saying in English ‘you get what you pay for’ and it ́s so very true and applicable to our case. You ́d better pay a little more and get an excellent product and professional service”.
